Ultra-Fine Filtration Process

What is ~0.007 Micron Filtration?

The LotusDY uses TipaTech's patented No-Smosis™ multi-stage filtration with nominal performance down to approximately 0.007 microns—one of the finest nominal ratings discussed in residential water-treatment literature. For context:

  • A human hair is approximately 70-100 microns wide
  • Most standard filters are rated to reduce particles down to 1-5 microns
  • The LotusDY is engineered to help reduce particulates at a nominal rating roughly 100–700× finer than typical 1–5 micron filters

What Ultra-Fine Filtration is Engineered to Help Reduce

Cyst-Sized Particulates

Engineered to help reduce cyst-sized particulates commonly associated with organisms such as Giardia, depending on source water conditions. Not intended as a substitute for disinfection of microbiologically unsafe water.

Microplastic Fibers

Designed to help reduce microplastic fibers, which have been documented in a large share of tap-water samples studied. Actual reduction varies by source water and operating conditions.

Heavy Metals

Engineered to help reduce lead, mercury, arsenic-related compounds, cadmium, chromium, and a broad range of certain heavy metals commonly discussed in drinking-water quality literature. Actual reduction performance depends on source water and operating conditions.

Radioactive-Element Compounds

Per TipaTech literature, designed to help reduce certain radioactive-element compounds (uranium- and thorium-related), subject to source water composition and system configuration.

Fine Particulates

Multi-stage filtration with nominal performance down to ~0.007 microns is engineered to help reduce a range of fine particulates and chemical/inorganic contaminants. Not certified as a virus disinfection device; for microbiologically unsafe water, follow EPA and local-health guidance.

Trace Pharmaceutical Residues

Engineered to help reduce certain trace pharmaceutical residues where present in source water, subject to influent water quality and system configuration.

How TipaTech Compares

Filter Type Filtration Size What It Misses
Standard Carbon Filter 5-10 microns Parasites, viruses, microplastics, heavy metals
Reverse Osmosis (RO) 0.0001 microns Removes everything (including beneficial minerals)
LotusDY (No-Smosis™) ~0.007 microns (nominal) Designed to help reduce unwanted constituents while helping preserve naturally occurring minerals

Why Ultra-Fine Filtration Matters

Many contaminants are invisible to the naked eye and can't be detected by taste or smell. Ultra-fine multi-stage filtration is designed to support reduction of fine particulates that conventional filters typically can't address, while performance varies by installation and source water.

  • Households with sensitive needs: Many families with young children, older adults, or immunocompromised members prefer added layers of point-of-use treatment for everyday drinking water.
  • Long-term water quality: Certain heavy metals and radioactive-element compounds can persist in source water over time, which is why ongoing point-of-use treatment is widely discussed in drinking-water literature.
  • Peace of mind: Cleaner, better-tasting water at the kitchen tap—backed by NSF/ANSI/CAN-compliant testing and IAPMO certification.

NSF/ANSI/CAN Certified

TipaTech filtration systems are independently tested and certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN standards, ensuring they meet or exceed the filtration claims made. You can trust that your system is performing as promised.
